Our Favorite Dishes from The Good Meat Heritage Series

Food embodies a profound connection to cultural heritage. It’s a window into a culture’s history and identity, connecting its people to the past and present, telling stories through flavors and traditions.

These cherished recipes passed down through generations, are more than just culinary delights; they encapsulate the essence of a nation’s history, traditions, and landscapes that have shaped its people. They speak volumes about heritage, given the fusion of local ingredients, cooking techniques refined over centuries, and cultural exchanges across borders.

The Good Meat’s Heritage Series is a captivating cooking show that celebrates the vibrant tapestry of Filipino cuisine. Hosts and renowned culinary personalities, Ninong Ry and Chef JP, cook up a storm in the kitchen, from traditional dishes to innovative twists, with each episode offering viewers a unique glimpse into the rich heritage of Filipino food.

Arsenal Content Marketing worked closely with the TGM Team on both seasons, creating 4 episodes for Season 1 and 6 for Season 2.

In this two-part series, Ninong Ry and Chef JP initially explore different Filipino dishes, adding their own twists, and having fun with culinary challenges using The Good Meat’s high-quality pork.

In Season 1, the goal was to put a unique spin on heritage Filipino dishes. No matter how unconventional the twist, the focus was on preserving the essence of these timeless recipes.

The duo returns for a second season with more excitement, visiting new places, taking on new challenges. These challenges pushed the chefs to think outside the box, experiment with flavors, showcase their skills in a competitive setting, and cooking up even more delicious dishes.

Here are some of our top picks from the series:

The Heritage Series, S1 Ep 4: Breakfast Favorites

    Breakfast Tapa Platter

This unique Pork Tapa dish by Chef JP has made its way into the list for several reasons:

    • Tapa is a Filipino classic
    • The meat used was pork, a twist to the usual beef tapa
    • Chef JP’s impromptu addition of a Coffee sauce is a surprising additional flavor that piqued our interest

The Heritage Series S2 Ep 4: The Good Amateurs

Breaded Pork Tonkatsu with Teriyaki Sauce

This exciting episode came with many twists and turns, including our chef hosts not cooking, but coaching a pair of amateur cooks.

Ninong Ry’s team won the challenge with this delicious and crispy Pork Tonkotsu with Teriyaki sauce, all made from scratch.

The Heritage Series S2 Ep 2: Kitchen Invasion

Crispy Lechon Kawali with Sinigang Gravy

What would it take elevate the Sinigang that we know and love? A little butter, flour, and a sizzling plate!
That’s what Chef JP decided to do for his already unique Batuan-soured dish. It was a fusion of flavors and textures that we would definitely recommend.

But the journey doesn’t end here! Season 3 is on the horizon, and it promises a heartwarming shift. While new hosts will be taking the helm, the core of the series – celebrating Filipino food made with love – will remain. Each episode will feature special guests who will share their personal stories and the little touches they put into their dishes to showcase the power of food to connect us to cherished memories.
